Dr. Karl E. Hofammann, III, specializes in Sports Medicine, Total Joint Replacement, Hand Surgery, & General Orthopaedics and practices at OrthoSports Associates at St. Vincents East.

He is a graduate of Princeton University, completed his medical degree at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  At Vanderbilt he later finished a General Surgery Residency and Orthopaedic Surgery Residency. After his residencies, Dr. Hofammann completed a Hand Surgery Fellowship at the University of New Mexico Hospital. Since 1984, Dr. Hofammann has practiced orthopaedic surgery in the Montclair area. Dr. Hofammann’s practice focuses on general orthopaedics, as well as total joint reconstruction and hand and wrist surgery.

Dr. Hofammann is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.  He is a member of the Jefferson Medical Association, Jefferson County Orthopaedic Society, and Alabama Orthopaedic Society.

Dr. Hofammann, a is a highly published author in his field, and has held several teaching positions, serving as a clinical instructor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Alabama Medical Center and a visiting lecturer at the University of New Mexico Medical Center. Dr. Hofammann has also served on staff with Birmingham Scoliosis and Spina Bifida and the State Crippled Children’s Clinic.
