Dr. Michael Ewing is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopy, joint replacement, shoulder and elbow, and traumatic injuries.
Dr. Ewing was born and raised in Hoover, Alabama and graduated summa cum laude from both Spain Park High School and the University of Alabama with a degree in finance. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham where he graduated cum laude. While in medical school, Dr. Ewing was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and served as vice-president. Following medical school, Dr. Ewing completed orthopaedic surgery residency training at the University of Missouri, where he served as chief of resident education. As chief resident, he received the Olson Award for outstanding resident research.
Following residency, Dr. Ewing pursued additional specialty training with the world-renowned James Andrews at the Andrews Research and Education Foundation in Gulf Breeze, Florida. While in fellowship, he served as team doctor for Tuskegee University, Pensacola Christian College, Auburn University, Pensacola Blue Wahoos, and multiple area high schools.
Dr. Ewing provides expertise in sports medicine and minimally invasive surgical techniques. He has also sought to advance the field of orthopedics through his research efforts, publishing his work in multiple peer-reviewed journals and presenting his work at regional, national, and international meetings. He has also won multiple awards for his research efforts.
