James Thomas, D.P.M. is board-certified in foot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He has practiced in academic medicine for over 25 years, including time as an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at UAB and West Virginia University, as well as, Professor and Chief of Foot and Ankle Surgery for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Marshall University School of Medicine. Dr. Thomas received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, CA. He then went on to complete his residency in foot and ankle surgery at Lakeview Hospital in Milwaukee, WI followed by 3 years of active duty in the U.S.A.F. in the Department of Orthopedics at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MS.
Dr. Thomas is a past board member and president of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery, and past chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Foot and Ankle Osteosynthesis, as well as, past section editor of the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Dr. Thomas’s interest include trauma and reconstructive surgery of the adult and pediatric foot.
