Kathryn “Ashley” Bentley, M.D. is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in hand and upper extremity surgery. She brings a compassionate and vigilant mindset along with her unique skill set to the OrthoSports St. Vincent’s Birmingham campus that ensure her patients receive the best care possible.
Dr. Bentley is a native of Montgomery, Alabama. She attended The University of Alabama after receiving a full athletic scholarship for Women’s Tennis. Throughout her four years of playing tennis for the university, she was awarded the Paul W. Bryant Student-Athlete Award, named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American, and she broke the record for most career singles and doubles wins at Alabama. After earning her bachelor’s degree, she spent a year as the Assistant Coach for Women’s Tennis at Auburn University before beginning medical school. She earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in Birmingham, AL. She completed her Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville and went on to complete a Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

In her free time, Dr. Bentley enjoys playing tennis, traveling, playing with her beagle, and spending time with her friends and family.
Dr. Bentley’s professional affiliations include memberships with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society.
