Grady E. Maddox M.D., is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery, wrist arthroscopy, elbow and wrist replacement, and traumatic injuries of the upper extremity.
A native of Dothan, Alabama, Dr. Maddox graduated from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor’s degree in Physics. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. Following medical school, he completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident. Recently, he completed a Hand and Upper extremity Fellowship with the University of Colorado.
Dr. Maddox has a special interest in degenerative disorders of the hand and wrist, congenital pediatric conditions of the hand, as well as traumatic and sports-related injuries of the upper extremity. During his time in Colorado, he served in the only Level 1 Hand and Microvascular Trauma Center in the Rockies. He has also authored multiple research papers in major journals on topics related to orthopaedic surgery. Most recently, he published novel research on flexor tendon repair techniques.
Dr. Maddox is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Medical Association of the State of Alabama, and the Alabama Orthopaedic Society.
In his time away from work, Dr. Maddox enjoys riding horses, backpacking with his family, and working on his land.
